Free printable organizing labels that you can type in and edit your own text. The Creativity Exchange

Free printable labels that you can type in your own text.

I'm so excited about today's post because it's a project that several of us have been working on for months. We wanted to figure out a way to take the beautiful hand lettered font that we used for the pantry labels here and create editable labels that you guys could simply type in your own text.

If you happen to miss the pantry label post, below are the pantry labels that Jo and I teamed up to create a couple months ago that we shared on the blog here:

Free Printable Pantry Labels hand lettered by Zuer Designs. Print on clear sticker paper

Jo and I received so many requests to create more label items for the pantry and all other areas of the home, we decided to make the font and labels editable for anything you guys want to label. Yay!!

Today, we are sharing a slight hand written variation of Jo's Hokey Pokey font for the editable labels. They still work beautifully with the existing pantry labels.  In the next few weeks, we will share the same Hokey Pokey font for editable labels.

On a side note, we also received tons of requests asking if Jo would turn her beautiful hand lettering into a full fledge font and make it available for all kinds of different uses. The great news is that Jo has done that and for those of you interested, you can buy and download Jo's Hokey Pokey font on Etsy here.

OK, so there are a lot of little details and options that come along with today's free printable editable labels, so be sure and read the instructions carefully to get the best quality printing for your labels and trouble shooting.

Right now, we have four different sheets of labels that you can type in your own text and edit.  Each of the four sheets are designed depending on what size font you want  and what type of sticker paper you want to use.

Free printable labels that you can edit

If you want to print the labels on clear label sticker paper, we tested all of them and think the very best sticker paper that looks the clearest is the Silhouette Clear Sticker Paper  (affiliate link). You do not have to have a Silhouette cutting machine to use this sticker paper and a standard printer works beautifully.

Another option is printing the labels on white sticker paper. We like the quality of this Avery white sticker paper (8.5″ x 11″) the best for printing the labels.

There is nothing you can't do and label with these labels. Perfect for organizing the bathroom, craft area, laundry room, classroom and anywhere else you want to get organized.

These labels are for personal use only.  These labels may not be sold or recreated/reformatted in any way as printables offered on another website/blog or for sale.  The font copyright exclusively belongs to Zeur Designs and the editable labels are copyrighted to The Creativity Exchange. You are more than welcome to share an image of our printables with a credit and link to our site on your website.

Ok, now onto the instructions.  Again, I can't stress enough how important it is to please read the instructions carefully because this is an embedded font that is not installed on your computer.  More than likely because of that, you may have problems and will need to change a couple default settings on your computer in order to be able to edit and print.

Instructions;

  1. You will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer  to access and print the labels correctly.  If you do not have Adobe Reader already installed, you can get it free here.
  2. You cannot edit the labels on an iphone or ipad. The documents will just be blank when you click on them. You will need to do this on your computer.
  3. Click on the file hyperlink of one of the four available sheets of printables found below, which will open the file. Again, there are four different sheets of labels, depending on what size font and what type of sticker paper you are using. The files are below these instruction in the "Printable Label Sheets" section with descriptions.
  4. Once you click on the file, it will open up the labels and you will see this below:

click on the highlight text field and begin typing the text you want and delete the letters that we used for examples.  If you begin typing and the text immediately changes fonts, there is a setting (or two) that you need to change on your default, which isexplained below at the end of the post under "Trouble Shooting".

4.  Once you have added your text, insert your label paper and hit print.

5. Let the ink dry for at least 15-20 minutes before you attempt to cut, attach and rub it onto your container to prevent smearing.

Available Sheets of Printables

Keep in mind as you look at each of these four sheets of editable printables that you can use them however you like with any kind of sticker or regular paper.  However, in order to not waste any extra space on your label paper, we have optimized the layout for specific type of sticker sheet and how you would general use them.

Trouble Shooting

  1. You cannot edit and create labels on an iphone or ipad. You have to be on a computer.
  2. If you began typing on the labels and the font switched to a standard font, you will need to change one or two of your default settings.
  3. The first setting to change is to go in and open Adobe Acrobat on your computer and then open the the Preferences dialog box under Categories.  Select Page Display , and then deselect the box "Use Local Fonts."Uncheck Local Fonts
  4. You will need to restart your computer before trying again.
  5. After you restart your computer, go back to the labels you want to edit and try typing again.
  6. If the font still changes and reverts to a standard font, you will need to make sure that your computer is not using (by default) another PDF reader program instead of automatically opening up Adobe Acrobat. To learn how to change your browser's default PDF viewer to Adobe Acrobat on your computer, you can go here to read the instructions.
  7. Once you made Adobe Acrobat your default PDF, restart your computer and then go into the printable sheet again and type your text and print.

I hope you guys can use these labels!

Again, a big thank you to Jo from Zuer Designs for designing the font and sharing!  Be sure and check on Jo on Instagram here to see more of her beautiful design work.  Also, another big thank you to Creativity Exchange contributor Christy Wagner for working so hard to format Jo's font into editable labels for us.

Cheers!
